Because every smile deserves to stand out.

AESTHETIC DENTISTRY

In modern times, where aesthetics is considered to be so important, a beautiful smile is what makes the difference. Facial plastic surgery, injectable products and techniques (Botox, hyaluronic acid) and generally all face treatments have dominated the modern world. However, if the smile reveals teeth worn, discolored, broken and without the correct position and relationship, then all the above techniques make no sense... The smile reveals all the beauty of the face, and as has been said... "beauty is power, and the smile is its sword."

To create a natural, beautiful, bright smile, attention should be paid to every detail. This is probably the most challenging aspect of modern dentistry. Very often, a team of specialized dentists is required to address all the problems and discrepancies of a non-aesthetic smile. Minimally invasive techniques, such as ceramic veneers and tooth whitening, rapidly create the ideal "white" aesthetics, while cosmetic periodontal procedures change the location and quality of the gums, creating the "pink" aesthetics. The final result is always a smile that transforms the patient's entire life.

Patients who have no teeth in the visible part of the mouth may require placement of dental implants, and this should be done only by experienced specialized dentists.

The team of Barbetseas' Dental Clinic, along with specialized dental laboratories, is widely known for its long and extensive experience in the management of the "Aesthetic Zone" of the smile. Cosmetic porcelain veneers, ceramic crowns, periodontal plastic surgery, and aesthetic implantology are performed in our clinic on a daily basis. Since 1988, Barbetseas Dental Clinic has been on the cutting edge of Aesthetic Dentistry and continues to lead the development of new techniques in Aesthetic Implantology.

AESTHETIC FILLINGS

When we refer to aesthetic "fillings" we are talking about one of two types of natural-looking tooth-colored restorations that are substitutes for "yesterday's" amalgam and gold fillings.

The simplest type of aesthetic filling is what people commonly refer to as "bonding". This filling is performed by the dentist in one single appointment and is comprised of a composite resin material (a mixture of glass and resin particles) that is placed into smaller cavities and bonded or adhered to the tooth chemically with special liquid “bonding agents”.

The second type of aesthetic filling is the ceramic inlay or onlay (partial coverage restoration). They are made in our own laboratory, from a high density porcelain-like material that is baked under vacuum pressure in a special Ivoclar Empress processing machine. These restorations are commonly performed when the tooth being restored requires a larger filling and would be otherwise compromised by a weaker material such as composite resins. Ceramic fillings are some of the most aesthetic restorations that modern dentistry can offer. They are strong, natural looking and long lasting. Properly done, they will “disappear” into the tooth and look like a perfectly healthy intact tooth.

COSMETIC TOOTH WHITENING

Teeth whitening is now the most frequently performed of all cosmetic or aesthetic dental procedures, and its popularity continues to grow.

Properly done, teeth whitening can remove the unsightly stains and discoloration that are likely to mar the appearance of teeth over the years (aging, smoking, the consumption of coffee, red wine and certain fruits and vegetables are the usual "culprits") and give you the white, bright teeth that make for a truly attractive, confident, winning smile.

While there are dozens of over-the-counter whitening products for use at home and any number of toothpastes that claim to have whitening properties, results are mixed at best.

They are unable to match the dramatic results of in-office teeth whitening using a bleaching laser along with custom-fitted home bleaching trays, made by our in-house lab at no additional charge. The procedure is expertly performed by one of our cosmetic dentists. This is the fastest, safest and most reliable of the whitening processes.

In-office whitening can often last as long as five years.

Another alternative is at-home whitening, under your dentist’s supervision. The dentist supplies you with take-home whitening kits that include custom-fitted bleaching "trays" for your mouth, along with detailed instructions on their use.

PERIODONTAL AESTHETIC RESTORATION

Our clinic is one of the very few clinics worldwide to offer various cosmetic periodontal procedures of the highest level. One of the procedures we routinely perform is cosmetic crown lengthening where the gums are cosmetically reshaped to make short teeth appear longer and to eliminate a “gummy” smile. Conversely, we have other techniques that allow us to shorten a tooth that may appear too long in relation to those adjacent to it by covering a portion of the tooth with new gum tissue.

What makes our approach different, is the overall philosophy of our doctors, who have minimal soft tissue trauma at the top of their priorities. Every surgical procedure in our clinic is a microsurgical procedure, performed with special microsurgical instruments, while the doctor is wearing special loopes with high magnification. The results are minimal discomfort for our patients, who heal fast and without complications, as well as more predictable treatment outcomes.

If necessary, our Aesthetic specialists can then restore the teeth to their natural beauty with either porcelain laminate veneers or full tooth-colored ceramic crowns to complete the cosmetic “smile makeover”.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

The porcelain veneers are one of the greatest and most effective methods of modern aesthetic dentistry. They consist of ultra thin custom-made shells of tooth-colored ceramic materials, which are bonded to the front (facing) surface of the teeth in order to:

● To cover discoloration on the tooth surface

● To restore teeth that are broken or damaged

● To fill gaps between teeth

To bring harmony and balance to the smile, especially when the teeth are not in their proper place.

The porcelain veneers show completely natural and are resistant to discoloration, even in patients who smoke. Furthermore, these are among the dental restorations with the best prognosis, in terms of their length of stay in the mouth without having problems. With this method you will get an attractive, natural smile with white, bright and well-formed teeth. The porcelain veneers are a more conservative alternative to prosthetic crowns (blisters) and apart from regular brushing and flossing, they do not need any other special care.

DENTAL CROWNS

Made to look like your own tooth, a crown is a dental restoration used to rebuild decayed or broken teeth that are not candidates for fillings. Also known as caps, crowns encase the entire visible surface of the teeth that have been reshaped (prepared) by the dentist. The crown is held onto the tooth by strong permanent cement. A crown can protect a fractured tooth and preserve the functionality of a damaged tooth by restoring its shape and strength. A crown may also be used simply to improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.

Our aesthetic specialists create crowns from a variety of materials (from metal-ceramic to gold-ceramic and all-ceramic crowns) depending on the indications of each particular case.
