What should be called Aesthetic Dentistry?

For most people Aesthetics is something mostly subjective and of course this is, for the most part, true! In Dentistry, when we strive to achieve excellence, we have to balance between the subjective qualities of Art and the objective fundamentals of Science. The first one is mainly depended on the artistic talent and perception of the dentist, while the second one demands a solid foundation of in-depth knowledge and a combination of complex clinical skills.

Your doctor has to be able to consistently apply a comprehensive system of various diagnostic steps and thus proceed to a detailed analysis of your face, which will then result in an identification and use of all those very important personal characteristics that will have a significant impact on the design of an amazing new smile! Your teeth can never be designed, created or altered separately from what your face demands! Your comprehensive face analysis will tell us all the necessary details about the ideal morphology and shape of your future teeth, their size, as well as all the individual micro-characteristics that make them unique and fitting with the rest of your existing teeth. This same analysis will also guide us in terms of the location and structure of your gums, which are the aesthetic ‘’frame’’ around your teeth, and therefore we can identify any necessary gum-related intervention from the very beginning.

In the several steps of the aesthetic analysis, and the subsequent creation of aesthetic dental restorations, all the incredible modern digital technologies come to help us considerably and become invaluable tools in our everyday clinical practice. From the extensive use of digital photography and the application of advanced facial scanners to the use of multiple planning and designing software applications, our abilities to meet even the highest of demands and treat even the most complex cases have skyrocketed!

Aesthetic Dentistry means knowledge and talent, blended together. Finally, it requires from us to invest our best clinical version in order to create of piece of art, which will then belong to our patient.
